I speak to my parents every weekend normally, except this week i've not been able to as i've been away. It would have to be the week when they're about to replace my mother's car wouldn't it.

My mums been driving a K reg Micra for the past 10 years and theres nothing wrong with it, but after being away for a week i've just had the pleasure of being told she's bought not a new NEW Corsa, but an old 'new' Corsa if that makes any sense for £8500 :( Basically the last shape on a new plate.

it's a 1.2 sxi and I feel ill for allowing it in our family :(

Anything remotely good about them?

ps. it's used tampon jazz colour too :o

My mother was also trying to spend £8.5K on the last reg old shape Clios. I didnt really manage to talk her out of it. It was only really because the colour she wanted fell through that saved me.

Managed to get her to buy the new shape Clio in the end, after giving up trying to get her in 2nd hand A3s and Merc A Classes. Failed in trying to get her on broadspeed too, so basically an all round failure.

And the icing on the cake is, I dont like it and actually prefer her old aging Clio more than the new one.

Thing is they've signed all the docs now and I don't think they can back out -I didn't have the heart to tell her that it's going to be rubbish, I suppose if she's happy with the way it drives and wanted a new car then I'd best not say anything.

I really don't think she trusts my opinion with cars.

At the end of the day, it may be expensive, but if your mum likes it for what it is, then thats all that matters.

Unfortunately, 99.9% of women don't give a toss about anything except what it looks like and what colour it is

thats because end of the day, it makes no difference what engine or 0-60 time, or torque/bhp readings or wether there are 100 better cars out there.
for most people if the car does what they need it to do, then that is all that matters.

OMFG £8 grand on a corsa

My mate at college bought a 53 plate 1.0 corsa for 5grand on finance and regrets it. My workmate just bought a 55 plate astra 1.6 for £10 grand on finance aswell. The astra feels about as good as the corsa aswell. :(

Thats old E36 M3 money

If it was £8.5k for the new shape corsa then maybe that is forgivable but on the old shape......ouch!!!! I bet the dealer is rubbing his hands together.

Faster than fast depreciation
