On a budget of around £500 what's a good motherboard to build from, I've not been keeping up to date of late benchmark wise, on a £500 budget is it best to go Intel still or has AMD stepped up their game?

Sorry if I didn't word that right, I meant my overall budget is £500. Unsure of what motherboard to build from though, I've been looking at the "Intel LGA1156 (P55 Chipset) - SATA 3Gb/s" models because everything above that looks a bit pricey.

PC will be used for gaming mostly, moderate resolutions, L4D2 mostly, but maybe some bad company 2.

AHHHH.

Do you just want a tower and operating system?

How about this?

I chose this particular motherbord because it can Crossfire, and should you have extra cash in the future, you can add another 5770 1GB to crossfire to boost frame rate/performance.
Can go for this CPU instead of prefered:

Also, if you are planning on overclocking the CPU, you should get a CPU cooler as well. May be something like this if you don't want to spend too much:

P.S. That 500W PSU would be enough for crossfiring a pair of 5770.
