I bought the Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H Intel H55 motherboard from overclockers a while back and I've been having problems getting it sorted out, twice I've had it taken to some pro's to try and sort it but the truth is I just don't know how to handle it. Basically they're saying its a Bios problem, its apparently got an F4 and needs an F9 to work with my i5 760 processor but I don't have any clue where I go next. Do I bin the board, send it back to the manufacturer for a bios update, can I update this bios myself somehow etc. or is it something I should sell or whatnot.

The whole PC is ready to go but the motherboard is basically causing all the problems with this Bios issue so can anyone help me and give me advice what to do next?

I assume the board does not start as it does not reconise the cpu?

It should be a case of putting a older chip in, downlaod the latest BIOS to a USB stick and update the BIOS from that, shut down and insert your cpu.

Most Pro's should be able to do this without a second thought.

Other option is to speak to Ocuk via the customer forums below and see if they will do it for your.

Well as I said I got the other guys to do it for me so not perfectly sure but when he called he said when he started it up then it would basically beep like mad at him and that the BIOS update was needed.

Yeah I figured they should be able to do it via software which is why I'm so confused it wasn't done just like that.

I think I will give OCUK a try thanks as I wouldn't know how to do it myself very well and hopefully they can.
Thanks for the help then.

Phoned the guys, this is what they had to say:
-the motherboard was released before the i5 760 came out, so the discs firmware only updates it to be compatible with an i5 750 or an i5 750s. This means that it won't start with our i5 760 and to get it to a point where we could update the BIOS to include compatibility with the 760 we would first need a 750 chip to get it going.

If they're right on that account then it seems like a simple matter, either we buy an i5 750 :( or Overclockers customer service might be willing to help us on the matter. The reason the people we took the PC to can't help us is that they run a small repair place and mostly deal with old PCs, they don't actually have new PC parts in stock, so they don't just have an i5 750 on hand to put in in place of our i5 760 to get it going.
