Motherboard boot issues

I have got to similar problems with 2 motherboards, firstly a shuttle motherboard spins up but nothing from onboard GPU, or a graphics card if I put one in. Brought a new bios chip but no difference - may just be a dead mobo but I have swapped everything in and out incl the CPU.

Secondly the next shuttle mobo is strange - It posts, then when I try to save the bios changes it restarts and wont post, then have to reset bios by taking out, putting another one (different computer wrong bios), putting old one back and it posts again. I have brought a new bios for this one too and it wont even post after the strange reset method.

I have swapped out everything here too, what I cant understand is it posts, sometimes, then wont save - if I dont save the bios it posts everythime but I cant install anything due to boot order.

Any ideas?

try changing the battery on the one that posts

I'm not sure about these specific mobos, but usually you can press F12 during POST to change the boot order..

So you should be able to install windows this way, instead of trying to change the boot order in the BIOS.
