Hi I recently took apart my PC and want to upgrade the CPU to an intel i5. I am having trouble with compatibility checks.

The model of the mother board is an FNX1 E93839 from an HP Compaq.

All advice and help will be much appreciated.

Thanks, Ben

It's going to be a Sandy bridge CPU in that board, on 1155. I'd hesitate in upgrading, it simply isn't worth it unless you can find a very cheap i7-2600 (check BIOS for compatibility first)

Hp 8200 is sandy Bridge it's either not a 8200 or it's sandy Bridge . Flash the latest bios and it should take any sandy cpu

Got to be careful in finding the right CPU to be compatible with the mother board (sandybridge as people have mentioned above)

or just update the bios and see what newer chips are compatible
