Hello everybody, had some question regarding a Motherboard/CPU upgrade.
Current specs:
CPU: Intel Core i5-750, 4000 MHz (20 x 200)
Motherboard: ASRock P55 Deluxe
Chip-set: Intel Ibex Peak P55, Intel Lynnfield
Memory: Mushkin Black (7-7-6-18) (1600Mhz) (996601AM3)
Sdd: Crucial C4 128Gb
CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X60

The question is would it be worth upgrading to:
ASUS MAXIMUS IV EXTREME INTEL P67
INTEL QUAD CORE I5 2550K
I'd be using the same memory(Mushkin Black) and Graphics card(HD6950).
Main reason for upgrading is using Sata3 speeds on the Sdd and the overclock-ability of the Sandy core.

Thanks for the reply. I agree with you after further research.
Core i5-4670K Cpu with Asus Z87M-PLU motherboard seams like a good combo.
Any reason you'd rather pick Z68/77 chipset over Z87?

Thanks kefan77 but after I posed the question, I realized that i'm gonna need pciex3 ability for when i'm gonna upgrade the graphics card.

Pci-e 3.0 is backwards compatible with pci-e 2.0 so any card will still work in a pci-e 2.0 motherboard with minimal performance loss.

If you use at as mainly a gaming rig unless you play things like the total war games or MMO's prepare to be underwhelmed. I went from a i5 760@4ghz to the 4670k i have now and am quite disappointed. I really wish i saved my money but at least i got good prices for my old cpu and mobo. Having my ssd run at full speed is nice though.

I do use it as a gaming/media center mainly, but hearing how disappointed you where makes me think again about the mobo/cpu upgrade and instead just buy a better video card.
Would you agree with that?
