motherboard gfx broke

I'm currently getting a load of random coloured lines on my monitor so im guessing its the onboard gfx


If i was to put a gfx card in there would it bypass the onboard gfx and work?


Dont want to puchase a new card if it doesnt do this and get a new mobo instead.

Should work fine with the add on gpu, assuming there are other problems with the monitor or cables.
