Motherboard or fan problem?

I have the p67 Sabertooth and just recently fitted an assist fan to the motherboard.

When I switch the system on, the fan jerks but does not spin.

If I manually turn the fan, the fan will then start to spin?!

Any ideas??

hold the replies, the fan also has a molex connector on it so I'll try it by that later.

Quick question for you. Where did you get the fan (I have the same MB) and why did you get it as a noseyquestion. My system seems to be very stable but if y9our making it better I want a piece of that lol is the fan quiet?

I bought the fan from another place. (not allowed to say where).

Its an aimaxx 5 green wing 50mm fan.

I got it because I watched some YouTube videos showing temps with and without. Better temps with. Plus I like how it looks (nice bright green colour).

Does it make a difference? Who knows!

Sounds like a faulty fan or it requires more voltage to get it up to speed to start spinning. You can try another fan on the motherboard header and check, other thing to check is in the BIOS to set the fan at full speed on and without the Speed control enabled to make sure it is not the motherboard causing it not to spin up, it might just require you to set the BIOS to full speed on that fan header.
