Motherboard VRM whine?

Hi all,

My system has started to make a bit of a whine and is very annoying. As far as I can tell it's coming from the VRM/CPU area but hard to pinpoint any better than that. It doesn't seem to be the PSU and I disconnected the GPU too.

It only seems to do it when it's fairly idle as if I load it up it goes away. It's not the fans either as I can turn them off and it's still there.

I did a bit of a google and ended up turning c-states off (no idea what that does) and I think it's improved a touch.

Any thoughts please?

Oh it's an ASUS Rog Strix X670E-A and an AMD 7950x.

Having the same issue on the Crosshair extreme. Board is going back for RMA.

Oh..... Yes mine sounds just like that, guess I should get on to OC and see what they say but if it's just going to go away and come back again then hmm.....

Go away and come back on an RMA I mean, not the noise....
