hi folks

I plan on buying these in a couple of weeks time and was wondering if anyone knows if my current ThermalTake frio cooler will be able to work, I know that it is AM3 compatible but as the new motherboard is am3+ I am thinking it wont work, but keeping fingers crossed that it does lol

I wouldn't buy that motherboard with that CPU, it will throttle like mad.

YOUR BASKET
1 x AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8320 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor - Retail £119.99
1 x Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0 AMD 970 (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard £79.99
Total : £209.58 (includes shipping : £8.00).

This is what you want! :) - And the cooler will fit.

Or for £45 over what you wanted to originally spend get something a little better:

what about the motherboard you mentioned with the 4.0ghz cpu?

currently have phenom 2 x 6 1090t @ 3.6ghz in my system

if there is a good increase in performance with cpu you mentioned then i may consider as it will be cheaper lol,

i had a look at the board but it does not allow crossfire as it only has 1 x pci-e, have you got any other opinions on boards?

AMD 970 Chipset, x4 DDR3, x2 PCI-E x16, x2 PCI-E x1, x2 PCI
Multi-GPU Support Supports AMD Quad-GPU CrossFireX™ Technology

Not sure where you read that.

The 8350 is the same as the 8320 but with a higher clock. For saving £30 you can just clock it higher yourself to match the 8350.

ok thanks Stas823 thats good to know :)

just looking at getting a board that will still allow me to use crossfire, with a cpu that gives more increase than the 1090t, will have to be AMD just that intel out of price range atm
