I get motion sickness really easily in games and have done for years, i dont play often but i started cod4 today and after 15 min i was dizzy and i am still a bit woosey many hours later.

has anyone found a way of reducing the effects of motion sickness and does and travel sickness pills work ?

just need more practice. I suffered similiar problems when I started playing 3d game,Quake 3 and Half life. But after many hours of practice, I no longer suffer motion sickness

Practise makes no difference, i get motion sickness in lots of games, theres nothing that can be done about it, short of taking a sea leg pill before you play.

Do you get motion sickness with anything else?

Probably sounds a bit silly, but maybe drink a lot of water before/while playing?

what size tv you using? do you get it on pc games? do you get it while in a car/boat? do you get it if start a fresh fps game, put sensitivity on high and spin in the same direction for a period of time?

often something with strong taste helps.. maybe lick salt ^^ or chew on lemon.

Sounds like tequila shots time...

More seriously as you say give travel sickeness tablets a try or get a travel sickness nausea band (they do work ~ my ex had awful travel sickness). Have a look at travel sickness sites and see what they recommend.
