For most people it goes after you get used to the headset and build up your VR legs. It's important that when you feel the motion sickness coming on that you stop playing and take off the headset. Don't try and push through, that makes it worse.

And when I say, when you feel the motion sickness coming on, I mean exactly that. The second you notice that you are starting to feel nauseous, stop playing, remove the headset and go do something else for a while. If you try to push through you will take much, much longer to build up your VR legs.

Was talking to a friend recently whilst playing walkabout golf. It uses a teleport motion but also has flight. The flight speed can be adjusted, so it's a good way to start off slow, and slowing increase whilst you get used to it.

And as Mel said, don't try and push through.

Thanks all, all good advice and will take it on board, it came on so fast to the point my legs starting swaying, however I did remove straight away, I think I’ll stick to beat saber until I get more used to it

you have to stop and build up a tolerance over time

any kind of motion on foot is tough to begin with, one of the reasons why Beat Saber works is you do most things on the same spot

any kind of forced motion like cut scenes is bad news, close your eyes

Even worse, it can teach your brain to associate being sick with wearing a VR headset, and you'll feel sick even thinking about doing VR. That's very difficult to overcome.

I always feel like I'm losing my balance or going to fall over when I use flight in Walkabout Mini Golf, but it really is nice to just be able to go anywhere and look around :)

I get this as well, and it very much depends on the game.

HL:Alyx I can play for hours with no problem, Fallout 4 had me ready to puke within about 10 minutes and felt awful for the rest of the day, Zero Caliber is somewhere in the middle, I can do maybe 45 mins to an hour before I have to stop

Surprised no one has mentioned this but if you want to eliminate motion sickness take some concentrated ginger tablets 20 minutes before you play VR. I was almost going to quit VR before trying these.

I suffer very badly with motion sickness when in a car, but not to bad on the quest 2, received good responses like “start of with slow paced games etc” and it worked, probably have to start again as I’ve house moved and haven’t touched the quest 2 for acouple of months,

What I use for my motion sickness when in a car are the sickness bands that go on your wrists, very good and have bought a cheaper version to try out on the quest when I decide to get back on it,
Need to build up as I want to try f1 in vr lol.

Just take it easy at the start, quit as soon as you start feeling it. Use all the comfort settings available and use a face fan so you don't overheat.

Also, try taking ginger tablets if you don't fancy going straight in with dramamine :)

I recently played HF Alyx and had to use the default controls which is blink from spot to spot, I wanted to try a more natural movement but was sick immediately, also when getting caught by them ceiling things I had to quickly look up which made me sick too. I only really used VR for 15h in 3 days, and I have to say my brain was affected so much when not using the headset, everything looked different, especially when using mobile phone or looking at monitor. I obviously used it too much in a short period of time without building any tolerance.

Even if you don't get nausea, you can end up with a bit of a dis associative state, where nothing quite seems real. I had that when I first got the headset, lasted about a week until my brain could easily separate things.

"only" 15 hours in 3 days certainly sounds like a lot.
