Motivation Problem

I'm sorry but if you need to be forcefully removed from an internet forum in order to complete coursework then you have serious problems which are far deeper than motivation - probably personality problems :p

I got a Don to ban me when it came to my Theory Test.

I wouldnt of revised otherwise. :p

I Have this exact problem, only im not massively enjoying my Uni course. Computer Systems Engineering, its VERY heavy and intensive compared to all the other courses i've seen, which is annoying in itself. I find that i'm not motivated to do any work until the last possible moment when im motivated because of fear :p .

For instance, i to had four assignments in before christmas (greatful for that now!), all due in on tuesday the 12th of december, i started them sunday the 10th. Probably not the best of ideas but hey i got them done but it did involve 2 days at uni doing 0900-1930 (latest our labs with MARCO is open) and then a nother 4 or 5 hours at home. Mass effort but hey i got it done, but it was only because it was due in pretty damn soon.

That's normally what I do. Meant to be revising whilst at home, but so far have managed a total of 10 minutes. Probably only start properly a few days before the exam.

Get a Don to ban you for a week.

You'll get bored and end up doing the work.

This actually worked for me. Which is, of course, worrying. Some people find working on their own initiative quite difficult, especially outwith the working environment. I think it's fairly easy to let yourself get distracted, especially when you're away from uni. Working 9-5 is a different ball game naturally.

Why not converse with mates from your university course, and swap ideas about coursework - this might get you in the motion to work.

Also if you're doing programming, sit down and break up your task into a plan, and tackle each bit of the plan. Once you've conquered bits of it, you'll feel happy and want to continue the courseworks.

If the courseworks are writing ones, dabble and write down ideas.

Hope that helps...

BTW, what are the courseworks about?

This works for me.

Take the bit of the project that you think you'll be great at, and just do loads and loads of it, you'll find that once you've finished that bit your'll want the rest to be as good. Worked for me as an Alevel student and works for me now as a postgrad.

I'm sure there's some theory about that.

Cheers

Coursework One - Design a minimod for BF1942. Some various stuff involved, but everytime i try and get my models ingame the BF1942 directory wipes them. Somehow. 29 times so far. And I'm following the lecturers instructions precisely :(

Coursework 2 - Some assembler language programming. Not too hard.

Coursework 3 - Some god awfully hard and complicated C++ questions.

Coursework 4 - Model and render (along with crudloads of documentation) a room that must include various items. Not hard, just having a hard time sorting out the lighting.

Coursework 5 - Maths questions. Easy :p

Coursework 6 - Make a game of 3 levels (the levels have various specifics) in Gamemaker. (www.gamemaker.nl)

There's a lot :(
