motoGP boys show the F1 guys the way

spray isn't really the problem, it's the ground clearance, bikes have it, f1 cars don't.

would love to see f1 race say a 1/3rd of the races in almost guaranteed rain and have to compromise car design.

But bikers and awesome, only reason I don;t follow it. Is one sport eats up enough time as it is.

Spray while racing a bike is bad too, you normally can't see the bike in front and are half riding the track by memory.

Surely if the rain causes a problem with ground clearance then they should raise the ride height when its wet? It didn't take me a stroke of mechanical genius to figure that out.

Rules and limits.

quite simply they are not designed for wet weather and there are so few full wet weather races, it is not worth compromising the car and losing points throughout the season for 1 maybe 2 wet races.

Not sure but they are very different cars from that time, modern cars are extremely optimised. Unlike bikes or cars from the past. In the past you could change ride heights, wings and the like after qauli, not sure when that rule came in.

You also have to remember f1 has gone very safety concious, to so in my opinion.

I'd like to see Rossi win this one, he can be great in the rain. In fact I only just finished watching the South Korean F1 on the iPlayer today, it was a great race and I'd be suprised if the MotoGP race will be as eventful! :p

parc ferme rules has been in for ages? some teams would have the spare car on a wet setup though

That's interesting - could that possibly be because F1 cars and motorbikes are slightly different?

Surely it would be more dangerous to drive a motorbike than a car, in the wet?

If anything, it should be the motor bike riders who should baulk at the prospect of riding in extreme wet conditions, not the 4 wheelers, who are protected by their monocoque.

it really isn't about baulk though. it is what the machines are capable of. if you take saloon racing or other normal cars they have no difficulty at all. It really is down to rules and design, f1 cars are not designed for wet weather, as there are far to few wet races and would compromise your speed on all the dry races.
Bikes and other car formulas do not have these design restrictions and as such can race in much worse conditions.
