Is it safe to use 0W-50 Eneos Sustina? Has anyone tried it and how does it compare to 5W-40?

Surely you just use the correct oil viscosity for your engine? Why wouldn’t it be safe to use 0w50 oil if that’s what your engine requires?

The issue comes in winter when it is more difficult to start up the engine and the fuel consumption during the first several minutes is significantly increased.
I have always used 5W-40 or 10W-40 but I'd rather want to experiment and see if the engine work can be improved?

What car is this for? Just use what the manufacturer recommends... you risk engine wear (albeit small risk) if your oil spec is out.

Mazda 3 1.6 CiTD 80kW 109hp 2005. The engine is French, Peugeot.

In fairness, as long as it’s got oil it’ll probably do fine.

Stick with 5W-30 or 40.

Ok, but which brand?
The oil makes a difference - for example the Eneos Sustina helps for very quiet engine, while with other, cheaper options are much louder and more resembling to older diesel engines.

It isn't a bad engine, though. I measured 71 mpg fuel consumption!

There are ways to drive efficiently and with high fuel economy. Just be gentle with the acceleration pedal.

I can't see you getting 71mpg. High 50's at best. Unless you only drive in the middle of the night with no traffic.

Very light traffic in the worst case and mostly highways - there is no problem with the traffic on our highways.

ACEA A5 gives high fuel consumption reduction, ACEA C1 oils are the best for keeping the engines clean and with lowest fuel consumption.
