As long as it actually is HD, the last video might have been HD resolution but the quality was awful.

Plus, we dont really need HD for 2 minutes of someone filming their computer screen playing top gear.

The interlaced problem was because I forgot to check the compressed video before the upload so sorry about that :)

And I shall take that onboard :)

That was the main minus point for me on the latest release...... a minute and a half (our of 8) of talking about anal passages and laughing in a hotel room?

If it's a rally video, make it a rally video :)

Why are you even going to make a 720p version?

I dont want to switch onto my 26" Widescreen LCD Tv to be able to watch it without bars and at the correct aspect ratio.

Compress it with Xvid or put it into a wmv with a 2 pass at a sensible resolution and there will be plenty of quality with an appropiate file size for an 8 minute video clip.

The reason for encoding as the highest rate possible is that some people actually appeciate top notch video quality in the same way that some people appreciate fast cars and overclocked computers.

I've spent the last 4 years working in the STB arena so have a wide exposure to HD content. To me DVD quality content just doesn't cut it on a decent panel. As for processing power, my "ancient" P4 2.6ghz PC quite happily ran the 1080p video at 40% and even with a mere 2mbit connection it only took 15 minutes to download while I carried on doing other stuff.

You'd be wanting a 480p and not 720p then.

Seriously dude, it's a home video of a bloke and his mates going to see a rally. It isn't the next Saving Private Ryan. Surely you don't NEED above DVD quality for that?

I also don't NEED a lightweight sports car but I want one ;) As strange as it may sound but I get some kind of perverse pleasure from being able to download the 1080p video, perhaps I should get out more but it's wet and windy outside at the moment :(
