Motorola Moto G - new budget smartphone champion?

Phone arrived and it looks like I've made a mistake.

I've bought it from Tesco and it's tied to them. They didn't tell me as I was buying it, but I need to use their network and sign up for a deal with them.

Unfortunately now that I've cut down my SIM card it seems pretty soundly jammed in there and won't come back out, so it looks like I need to get the phone unlocked.

Anyone know if Tesco will give me an unlock code, or if there's a legal way to do it? A bit of googling says it's not illegal... but I've not owned a locked phone before so I'm no expert.

Ah ok, I'll give that a shot. Looks like I've just missed the 11pm cut off, hopefully it'll come through tomorrow.

Ta.

The code came through and sorted it, it's now unlocked :)

Sadly I tried the 64GB card that worked unofficially in my SGS2 and it doesn't seem to work in the Moto G G4. It just sits checking for errors. As a double check I'll leave it doing that overnight some night and see what comes of it. So down to 32GB I go.

Mine doesn't work with a Class 10 UHS-1 Kingston SD card. I've gone and ordered a class 6 Samsung 32GB so hopefully that'll work. Didn't want to risk another Class 10.

The OTG function for storage only seems to work if the media attached is fat32 though. That's not as handy as it could be.

Otherwise I'm happy enough with my purchase.

Thinking of getting one of these to replace my galaxy s3.
Looking at getting the 4g version as I need to store slot of music on my SDcard.

How much of the 8gb internal storage is available? I'm currently using 4gb of apps.

With KitKat does Google music still play off the SD card as I've read that KitKat has changed how apps can use the sd card?

I don't want to root the phone as my banking apps won't work.

Thanks

Root cloak never worked when I rooted my Nexus 5. Barclays app saw right through it :D
