*** MOTOROLA RAZR ***

I'm 99% sure motoblur will be on this handset.

After asking that question, I actually went and had a look at the Techradar hands-on linked above, and it said:
Motorola hasn't added MotoBlur to the operating system, which in our eyes is something of a bonus.

So maybe they saw sense and didn't include it afterall? :)

How can you add any major skin like that on top of ICS. It's key feature is the new UI.

edit:

assuming it gets ICS very quickly, which I think it will

It's an evolution of Motoblur with the name removed for marketing. It's MILES better than motoblur from Android 2.x, probably matching the current itteration of touchwiz.

As stated before it'll take them ~6 months to fully migrate all additional features to Android 4, like the ubuntu desktop dock app (which will, hopefully, be replaced by the tablet desktop UI of Android)

hmm, looking at those pocket lint pics it does look rather nice, would maybe have liked a little less bezel,

my choice is now down to the Razr VS GN, with my main issues to be resolved being...

better camera [not MPs but quality]
whether the GN will come in a 32GB model
battery life - very important.
real life screen quality.
notification LED
Real life appearance/feel - why i hate the SGS2

things that dont concern me..
NFC
software update time line [as long as its not ridiculous]
GPu on any of these phones is enough for me
CPU speed - again all fast enough for me

bottom line, for me i want the GN but if it doesnt hold up [ie the great screen cant overcome other features] to the Razr ill go for that.

From what I've read GN will come with 16/32gb versions, it will have LED notifications which I doubt the Razr will have. So its just down to the feel, which I think btoh phones will feel great.

as odd as it sounds the LED thing is a big one for me. Also its been mentioned in other threads the GN may only be 16GB in UK

least these will be out at about the same time. Its that screen on the nexus that is just so tempting.

screen - GN
battery - ?
camera - ? but probably the Razr
LED - GN [maybe razr]
feel/appearance - wait and see!
storage - Razr simply cause its expandable

pretty much a dead heat IMO so far

You also need to note the no doubt big difference in price.

this is a good point, if it will add £10 to the contract price per month then its a no brainer for me, cant find any info on the LED on the RAZR

Razr vs Galaxy Nexus?

Better camera = Equal (8mp omnivision + Motorola pp is nothing special, GN's 5MP doesn't look great either)
battery life = Razr (Unknown but Motorola are usually very good)
real life screen quality = GN (Looks fantastic, miles better than the razr)
notification LED = Equal? (Razr has a Tricolor variant)
Real life appearance/feel = Razr (Kevlar and 7.1mm!)
Software update time line = GN (Waiting for official updates for the razr will frustrating)
CPU/GPU/Memory = Identical.
storage = Razr

Very close...

If your not considering a SGS2/iPhone 4S then the Sony Ericsson Nozumi will be a great alternative. That'll have a 4.3" 720p Bravia screen and cracking 12MP Exmor R camera.
Wish they'd hurry up and release it before HTC get round to cranking out a real next gen phone in 4-6 months... :p

One thing is that Moto have very terrible support in UK, and updates take forever. The Atrix which is the top end phone just got GB like maybe 1-2 months ago compared to Sensation and S2 and all the other phones that came out the same time having GB at release. However if you look over at state side all the Droid line has been on GB for a long time. That's the many worry with Moto for me.

Very useful post thanks.

Glad to see the razr has an led, taking this into account looks like a demo will be essential, also cost, im looking for a new contract as of this month, these two phones being the only contenders. The sony is just too far away :(

Will the better screen and instant update justify the cost of the GN? Hmm I want a demo now!

Yes it does IMO. The screen mostly. The GN has an RGB LED so also tri-colour.Razr's kevlar battery cover is nice but the GN's battery cover is also of an exotic material.

I agree.

In fact I'm having more trouble in choosing between the SGS2 and the GN, waiting for some proper in depth reviews and I'll want to hold the GN for myself before I consider buying it. The SGS2 is already pushing the boundaries of what I'm comfortable carrying around.

So yeah, hope you get your GN soon for review :p
