*** MOTOROLA RAZR ***

:( my order has been delayed until the 7th now. Gah! Why can't there be a proper release date for the UK? Argh! So annoying :(

Edit: week commencing the 7th apparently. This just gets better and better. :(

Ah..

This is one of the ugliest smartphones I've ever seen.

I can understand if people like the strong, industrial look of the phone but it's not for me. Not at all.

I love the look of it except for the bezel at the sides. Need to hold one in my hand to really get a good idea of how bad they are though. Seems like they just increased the height and width in order the flatten out the phone?

What's the logic behind a fixed battery? Surely they know consumers like to buy spares or even extended life batteries. [dragon]It's for this reason, I'm out[/dragon]

actually, most people don't want to buy spare or extended batteries.

Right, and batteries don't deteriorate, people don't want spare batteries for long journeys, and there aren't a billion sellers on ebay selling phone batteries.

It's not just about extended batteries though is it. Batteries do deteriorate and even die. So when this happens, it's going to mean taking the phone to a service centre instead of a simple battery replacement at home.

Batteries do deteriorate and even die.

Not within a standard contract length, say 24 months max.

Extended batteries are only purchased by a tiny % of phone users... probably a large % of people on a computing forum, but look at the bigger picture.

Seen this for 30£ per month on 24 month on tmobile with 900 mins and 500 texts and unlimited Internet.. But don't know what unlimited is

Phone free

I'd say this over the SGSII but the Nexus over both.

How come you'd suggest this over the SGSII?

Not that I doubt you, I just want to hear your thoughts on why you think this would be a better choice. :)

I don't like the look of the Nexus really, so I'd prefer this or the SGSII.

Sure.

qHD SAMOLED screen which I think will be nicer than the standard res SAMOLED+.

Internals are fairly similar, shouldn't be a big difference there. Same applies for the camera/video.

Looks better, semi-water proof (might be handy).

I wouldn't get it until you've seen the reviews though, it could have some problems.

My main worry would be how slow they are at updating things, its all well them saying its early next year but I will believe it when I see it, for that reason I would take the Nexus.

Unless the camera is rubbish (fairly unlikely), the Nexus is the Android device everyone should be aiming to get.

I agree with that (it's too big/long for me though :()

After ~6 months the Razr will be a great for those on a budget (price drop and hopefully running ICS by then :p)
