Mountain Biking

I went to gisburn yesterday I think its the best trail centre i've done so far did struggle a bit on the 'Simons Swamp' section of it on my e-hardtail though (lots of rocks boulders) and 'bottoms beck' was a bit tricky but the flowy sections were loads of fun, thinking of hiring a FS electric the next time i go to see what the difference is like

the biggest thing I struggle with is holding my handlebar over bumpy terrain do I need some thinner grips? (have DMR deathgrip thick on them)
likely you need to hold on less. Be more relaxed.

the more tense and grabbing the brakes you are the more fatigue you will feel. If you are relaxed your arms will do their thing.

It's one of my favourite trail centers as well, some good off-piste there as well.
I usually skip out the swamp rock section, there's an off piste you can do to the left just before you get to it.

The new Canyon Spectral:On Avinox line-up launched today looks good!

I will probably order the CF9 version for my son, as a replacement for his Trek Rail, which he has never really got on with. Too heavy, clattery sounds from the motor & frame, and lower end suspension. I think his Marin Quake DH bike spoilt him.
This is launching today, orders available from December and delivery from mid January

Other Ltd, CF8 and CF7 specs coming as well

I was going over home baked and rocking up and down on my hardtail holding on for dear life maybe i need to lower the PSI on my forks for those trails as there arent a lot of drops or jumps?

ill be going there more often as its not a hard commute from the train station to the forest, do you normally ride an e bike or non electric? I did the full blue and full red and including the journey from and to the train station ended up clocking 38 miles don't think my fitness can handle that with non electric but I do want to get a FS non electric in the future hopefully will have a car by then.

Non electric. Usually get two or three laps done.

It is a lovely looking bike!

I rented a Wild M20 as I want an m2s with 170/170 more than I care to admit. I had two thoughts during this time.

1. My god is the power fun!
2. It’s delivery isn’t as fluid a the CX5

After the novelty wore off I had the following thoughts.

1. My god is the power fun!
2. Fluid power delivery consistently and reliably trumps the fun aspect once that initial 20 minutes of hilarious has passed.

Is the Avinox really worth it? Hmmm.

Just my 2 pence. But for context, I’m not a teenage lad so the “old” aspect of my existence relative to that is probably playing a significant role here.

Did you try turning the assistance levels down ? Out the box auto is nudging almost 800% assist which makes it feel less natural/fluid and putting in a lot of rider power quickly would mean the bikes traction control is trying to contain wheelspin by fluctuating the power especially on wet roots/rocks. I dropped it to around 250-300% and found it much better especially doing technical climbs (still surprises what I can cycle it up). Also means you are still getting a workout also added about 20% onto the range.

Doing the enduro at fod on the weekend was the first time i have really noticed the eeb limiter.

Would have defo been faster on an analogue bike. Hitting limiter on the flats while trying to go flat out was horrid. But at least i didnt have to push up so many times

will be keeping my eeb for another year at least, see if the CVT stuff takes off by then.

I run in auto constantly. I do not like the over run or chain tensioner features bosch added recently. Ive also left it at 85nm dont really need more.

The higher limiter doesn't help that much even at 28mph you can still bang off it at least a lot less often. I've met a rider who on top of the VPN hack was running a modified rear pickup he was hitting 45mph, mental.

I disabled the Avinox equivalent of the chain tensinoer turned out it was the cause of some bad noises from the cassette not had any since.

I have also dialled back overrun, still have a low level it is good when you need over a rock etc at low speeds with a half crank turn gives enough to get over it. Where it is not good is going down a trail when you are on it hard so pedalling then braking at the last second before the corner the brakes are then having to handle the overrun and slowing you down enough for the corner. I've got a custom profile for downhill with zero overrun and maximum pickup so for 1 or 2 pedal strokes between corners I can get a nice boast in speed if required. I've noticed chasing folk this is where I can real them in with ease also means the brake pads lasted less the 300 miles :D

So I did a thing. Fancied having a try with one of these puppies and for intrigues perspective. It was an expensive impulse purchase but it’s something else to cross off the bucket list.
