Hello, my Samsung 840 pro just arrived, its my first SSD so when i opened it i was suprised to see a credit card sized box, how do you guys go about mounting these tiny little things? I havent used a floppy drive in about 10 years, i was thinking about taking an old one of them apart and using the case as a mount so i can stick it on the normal HDD bay. Is that the sort of thing you guys do, or do ya just screw it in anywhere as its so tiny.

Ta.

I use x4 corner based blobs of Blu-tac on the underside, then mount it to the bottom of the floppy drive area.

Simple, zero cost and effective.

It really does depend on your case, and where you want to mount it.

For instance, I have a Corsair 700D case, and the drive bays have sliding trays to mount your hard drives on. There are mounting holes on those trays to cater for 2.5" drive sizes as well as 3.5" drives.

What case do you have?

I have a chieftec full tower, it also has removable HDD bays with 80mm fans fitted inside, they fit 3 3.5'' hdds in each bay. but i removed teh bottom bay and drilled out the rivets so i could fit a rad in its place so im down to 1 bay now, if the SSD needs cooling i guess ill find a way of mounting it the removable bay, maybe by destroying a floppy drive as it will save bending and drilling sum brackets to fit.

Mine are in 5 1/4" bays just screwed in at one side and hanging loose at the other. No moving parts to worry about so all you need to do is stop the drive bashing anything else in the case.

I have one attached to the back on my mobo tray with some sticky velcro. The other one is just hanging down off the SATA cable inside somewhere.

cheers for the replies, if anyone else has the same problem, an old floppy drive unclips and dismantles in about 1 minute then drill 4 x 4mm holes in the bottom, and ya have 1 home made SSD tray. I move my PC around quite a bit so im a bit reluctant to have anything in there thats not screwed in tight. :)

Maybe you should have made that post a little more evil :D
