Hey chaps....

im suffering random freezing with my keyboard and mouse and was wondering if there's any fixes?

Mouse remains powered up but non functional and it seems like the keyboard loses power completely.

Was sure i read on here that someone adjusted the BCLK to 100 and it solved there issues, could this help?

Spec in sig

thanks:)

never actually noticed the clock tbh & because i have no keyboard and mouse functionality i can't really tell if windows is running ok, usually have to do a hard shut down.

It seems to happen at random at least once a day.

Are you sure it's the mouse + keyboard and not the entire machine? I've had random freezes with the P8P67 Pro, but the following mitigated them somewhat:

1/ Update bios
2/ Clear CMOS
3/ Set BCLK to 100 Mhz
4/ Set AI profile to "XMP" or "Manual" - double check RAM timings
5/ In windows, set power profile to "High Performance" (you may wish to duplicate the setting and allow CPU performance back down to 5% per the standard plan, but leave everything else)

Now I only have explorer go sticky (and recover after a minute or two - I can switch windows but not do anything much in most of them) once per boot. I occasionally have to replug my keyboard when using steam, though, as sometimes opening the overlay causes it to send nothing but shifts. This last is more likely a keyboard/steam/windows problem than a hardware issue though.

Are you overclocking?
If so it's likely you're not running a high enough voltage for your clock speed. Either increase VCore (carefully and not over 1.4V!) or reduce clock.

Thanks for the advice chaps, heres a quick update....

Had the random freeze this morning, removed the keyboard and mouse and tried them in different USB slots and they worked:confused: Then i unplugged them and tried them back in the original slots they were in and they are fine again:confused:

Everythings running 100% underneath, it's definatley not a full system failure, just seems like my boards USB ports have a mind of there own.

My wireless network card is plugged into my case usb and was still working away no problems when my keyboard and mouse locked up:confused:

I didn't get a chance to try any of the fixes you mentioned will try when i get home.

Ps...Tried to set my ram to it's XMP profile only to get ......

Overclocking failed:p

look in your event log for any recent warnings or errors. It might shed more light.

Anything out of the ordinary going on here?

hehe i should have said see if you can match any times of suspect events to something in the log...

Me for example i had a 30s lock up/freeze and i looked in the log and saw that IAstor had messed up, googled the event code and then you can see what possible fixes are about, or even if that fault is to blame.

There are literally 1000s of variables at play here so you really need to tie up the freeze time to an entry in the log.

I also get random mouse and keyboard freezing. Usually restores to normal order after 20 or 30 seconds.

Mouse and keyboard freeze seems to be a common problem with this motherboard. Asus forums are discussing it also. No one seems to be able to pin it down yet.

I have a p8p67 and haven't had this experience.

Like i say tho i had major issues with locking up related to the Intel storage drivers on sata 2 ports and i suspect my DVDROM.

tbh im sick of this board and contact my e-tailer to see if i can RMA it and im gonna get a MSI one, hopefully sooner than later. If nmot ill have to wait till april then refund it and do it then... HOPEFULLY in that time asus may iron out all these issues.

Im still getting random cold boots and overclocking failed issues.. i just cba anymore.

I was reading the asus forums about problems with the intel chipset etc and came across a post saying that a fix for the Pro coldboot is simply... Enter UEFI BIOS > Advanced tab > APM > Enable the "Power on by PCIe." function.

Although i just remembered this was to solve the Pro's double boot from cold.

Worth a try though, i just thought i would pass on the info :)

Have you tried removing all the harddrives and only leaving in the C drive? If it still freezes change the SATA port, it could rule out a dodgy sata port.
