Hi,

I'm new to PC gaming and before I was playing xbox 360, so i'm used to using the controller.

Coming to PC I've found it hard to adjust to the mouse and keyboard.

Is it worth persisting with the mouse and keyboard or should I just hook up my wired 360 controller to the PC?

Cheers for any advice/help!

Persist with keyboard and mouse if you can - so many games aren't really designed for controller (though sadly increasingly its more common for them to be controller optimised :|)

Maybe try something like quakelive and run around against bots for a bit to practise movement and aiming.

EDIT: This also depends a bit on the type of games you play and style of playing though PC games are typically less designed for sitting back on a sofa and playing from a distance casually.

I'll give it more of a chance then!

How important is the type of mouse and keyboard?

I bought a gaming mouse from Ebay for about £10 and ive got a bog standard keyboard, will they do or should i be looking to upgrade?

see how you get on first but a decent mouse would be the starting point.

Don't mean specifically an expensive one but a comfortable one with a good sensor will improve things onc you get used to using a mouse.

Keyboard is pretty irrelevant I love my Mech but I could just as easily game on a normal keyboard and did for years!

As TwsT said getting the right mouse for you is pretty important the keyboard less so - I'd also have a look at MarkC's mouse fix and turn off any mouse acceleration (unless you prefer it personally) as a "swingy" over sensitive mouse can be a completely terrible experience.

As said above persist and it will come. Also I agree with twist about finding the right mouse for you, I recently changed to a avior 7000 from a m60 and can't believe the difference it has made to my accuracy on bf4. I suppose me been left handed and using a right handed mouse didn't help but I still think this is the best money I have spent this year. So do your research first and it will benefdit in the long run.

If you play a lot of FPS based games then definitely persist with the M&KB.

I was in the same position as you, been on Xbox live since the original Xbox and owned every console in the last 25 years. Moved to PC gaming full time about five years ago.

The transition to M&KB was easy though, adjusting to the difference in skill levels bewteen console players and PC players was a lot tougher though.
