was just chatting using adium and then i moved the cursor using the trackpad and it went off the screen similiar to how it would with an extended desktop...and it never came back!
i was trying to get it back with the track pad and even connected a usb mouse but nothing.
Me being lazy i cba to restart so just got along with keyboard, about 5mins later cursor came back lol.
