Mouse/Keyboard Not Responding on Resume

Recently I have started having a problem; occasionally when I resume from hibernate the mouse and keyboard won't respond meaning that I have to restart to get them working. This doesn't happen every time.
When I had a PS2 keyboard it worked even when the mose didn't so I could save everything and restart, but now that I have a usb keyboard that doesn't respond either. At a guess I'd say that the usb ports aren't turning on properly but the lights on the keyboard and mouse all come on so I'm a little lost.
Does anyone know how I may be able to fix this? OS is Win7.

Thanks

What mobo are you using? I know there was an issue with Gigabyte and Win 7 + Hibernate.

You should probably post the specs of your rig and then people may be able to help more.

Perhaps a BIOS upgrade?

try this:

control panel
search 'power'
'change power saving settings'
'change plan settings'
'change advanced power settings'
under USB settings, change USB selective suspend setting to Disabled

[edit] btw, it's worth reading up on the implications of this setting, from a quick read it seems it can reduce battery life if it is disabled on laptops

I have disabled this now. I'll report back whether it works or not
