Hi everyone,

I've bought a magic mouse for my Windows PC.

anyway I was wondering if a Mouse mat is needed, I have a laminate wood desk, would it cause any problems in accuracy.

Also if I should get one, I'm looking for something "clean" since the mouse is pure white, I want something pure white to keep it on and also something very smooth that won't start breaking apart.

I saw the Lian Li Mouse mat, the aluminium one. Has anyone used it before?

The feet of the MM are rubber and I found the 'glide' unsatisfactory on a variety of surfaces, either because it was noisy (hard surfaces) or didn't feel smooth (cloth etc). Cut some teflon tape strips and stuck them over the feet (avoiding covering the battery area), noise and smoothness problems solved! The wood of your desk will probably be fine.

Same really, I don't have any teflon or anything on mine but it's definitely got a bit of a drag to it just because the feet are so large, they're as long as the mouse and there's two of them. I do want a mat though just to protect my desk... got a thin cloth one which I'm happy enough with but it ****ing slides about! Drives me mad. Might just stick something gummy to it.

ive had a variety of mouse mats in the past, with hard surface pads ive always had to use mouse skates (teflon) on the mouse, and the combination is great. ive since gone back to material mouse mats, last was a steelseries qck which was excellent for the price, and ive just ordered a boogie bug xl which is fantastic value.

im actually selling some mouse skates/glides (self adhesive teflon) on the member market at the moment if anybody wants some :p

I know this is an old post, but I had a similar question and found this thread after Googling. I found a product called Fliders that might be the answer. I'm going to give them a try and was wondering if anyone here has tried them.

Yes, recently bought a set of Fliders for my MM.

They're like a bit of fluffy carpet comfort for your MM's rails. Worthy purchase if you're that way inclined, I'd recommend them. Bought the set from a US seller on ebay, received them with 3 or 4 days.

Good find. I'm on my 2nd set of teflon strips so far, and the only reason I took the first ones off was because I'd got the Magic Charger and had to remove the battery cover. Got enough tape to replace them twice but I'll give these a spin next, as they look like a nice snug fit.
