mouse mats do they even matter? if so what type should i get?

I have a Raxer Sphex mouse mat, it's very thin and sticks to the desk. Then I have a Mx518 with skatez on it, glides like nothing else, it's like it's on ice :)

I used the Sphex for a while and just found it mediocre really, the grain on it was neither here nor there and my wrist was painful after a while :(

sphex is a good mat since it really is just a new surface but i found a couple of mice didn't like it and it is hard on the hand (andy ikea table?)

Maybe other people have a higher level of tactile sensitivity than me but I have a small Razer Goliathus speed edition (215mm/270mm) and a larger cheap Logilink (290mm/390mm) mat and other than the size and price I can't tell the difference. Even on close inspection the materials seem to be almost identical. I have also used a friends Steelseries mat and again there was very little, if any, difference. I have also just got an unbranded 600mm/350mm mat (cos it was huge and cheap lol) that again feels pretty much the same. There may be small differences in production quality like stitched edging etc but I really think most of the price difference is for the branding. But like I said, maybe it's just me.

I've not really thought to try anything else yet, but it seems fine to me, no issues with my wrist :)

Yeah ikea desk :)

My mouse is great with skatez on it, massive improvement.

Ended up getting a Mx518 of the net and the sidewinder + the xxl overclockers mat as brought myself a new desk so helps protect that :D

really happy with all 3 thanks for all the help guys :D

Well my desk surface is fine but I think it would damage the desk so I use a mouse mat also it's a lot quieter. Get a Steelseries Qck had it years and still hasn't worn out.

Current mousemat is a Boogie XXL, I've just tkaken delivery opf the new G440 hard pad from Logitech and the mouse glides a lot easier on it.

My concern was the noise, some of the hard pads I used before had a very noticeable scratchy noise to them, this doesn't :)

Will give it abash in games and see how well it copes but its looking promising so far.

Started CS GO competitive recently with a few friends and was bottom score every match. Got myself a Mat Catz mouse and gaming mat combo last night and every game we played after I was way higher so I believe it all helps :)

The gaming mat is a Mat Catz Cyborg G.L.I.D.E 3 (Size: Large)

I bought a ModMyMachine metal mat from OCuk the same day I bought a mechanical keyboard, instantly performed better in FPS game's.
Dunno if it was the mat or the keyboard, but I couldnt play without the mat now

I found if its optical it wont work on my desk unless I use a mouse mat. Its really smooth and I still use my Logitech G3 (laser) I have had for donkeys years without a mouse mat. Also dont have room for a mouse mat.

Can those with a Boogie Bug Aim B XL please post which mouse they are using successfully with it?

I've tried 2 mice with mine so far and they didn't agree with it. There was just no smoothness or accuracy.

I use a G400 and it works perfectly! MX518 was the exact same too.

razer deathadder also works extremely good with it.

Not 100% sure but iirc the sensor used is more or less the same as the one used in the g400 and mx 518 so it should work just as well, but you will need to double check with someone who has the g500 and BB pad!

What are the two mice that you have tried?

Can't say I have seen many people here with those mice.

Another option is that you could buy a tiny mouse mat (for £10 or so) and place it on top of the boogie.

Tried loads here and eventually fell back on to my original Razer Goliathus Control. Not only for me is the tracking and glide as good as any but it is less abrasive on mouse feet. When i paired it with a Deathadder 2013 i was blown away. I can honestly say in my 15 years of gaming the DA 2013 and Goliathus Control not the Speed is the best combination out there i have used. The only downside is of course Synapse but i think it is a small price to pay. Simply amazing and really easy to clean.

For £15 u cannot beat the Golitathus imo
