Help pls!

Just did a graphics card upgrade...PRIOR to that, I went into the add/remove programs bit under control panel and chose to uninstall the Nvidia drivers...system asked my whether I wanted to remove ALL Nvidia drivers or only the display drivers...I chose ALL by mistake!!... (mobo is a Nforce 4 Asus)..

anyway, I slotted in my new Radeon 4850 and rebooted.. system goes to windows log-in screen but mouse isn't working... I tried using a PS/2 mouse but that doesn't work either... tried using my USB mouse in different ports but it doesn't work ... tried using a PS/2 adaptor with my USB Mouse but it doesn't work... rebooted many times...

My USB keyboard works since I can get into the system set up...

Just can't log into windows since I can't make the pointer move and enter the password!!..

Any ideas?

Thanks!

there doesn't seem to be a setting disabling PS2 ports in my BIOS... the keyboard PS/2 port works but my mouse PS/2 doesnt... I tried the mouse in its own PS/2 port..

Even safemode on windows doesn't work for the mouse

I just booted from my windows setup CD to reinstall but when it gets to the 'select a partition screen' it says 'unknown disk. cannot install in this space' for both my hard drives ...if I try to proceed or delete the partition, I get a BSOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BIOS shows everything as ok though (i.e. all drives present etc)

tried switching off, reconnecting devices etc
also ensured legacy support was on..

in the end, i got bios to default settings and tried reinstalling windows...this time the setup software did recognise my HDD... currently doing a fresh install... mouse pointer seems to be working... must have been the darn windows that buggered up! :-/
