Hi

I'm after a new mouse to replace my old Logitech MX 1000 Laser. No preferance to wireless or wired as I don't really play FPS games so a milliseconds lag isn't an issue. Prepared to pay approx £60.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Try one of the Cyborg R.A.T series. For that budget a R.A.T.5 comes in just fine I believe. If advertised right 4000 DPI, highly customisable and a precision aim button amongst others.

G400. Cheap as well.

Else it depends. Light and small, the Zowie AM (modelled after the Intelimouse 1.1), Razer Deathadder (some swear by it, quality issues). Else G500 (ok mouse, a bit 'weird', rough thumb texture, flywheel, buttons not highest quality), the gigabytes with loads of buttons, M60 (hmm not really your bag if you're not FPS crazy).

Any opinions on the Razer DeathAdder Respawn 3500?

Nice enough mouse but it really depends on how hard you are on your mouse. If you resemble a rough user don't touch it with a 10 ft pole. It will break.

edit: If you don't go for a RAT i suppose i should ask. What grip do you use on your mouse?

I use a palm grip. I've just looked at a RAT and it seems far more advanced than what I need. I would never use half the features it has. Also it looks like it would be quite uncomfortable to use but maybe that's just how the pictures make it look.

From what i hear palm should be fine on the deathadder. I'm not really comfortable suggesting it though due to some peoples reliability issues with that mouse.

G400 people seem to swear by. It's good bang for your buck but not the greatest of mice IMO. If you aren't after anything particularly advanced it is however a safe bet.

The RAT does look quite scary at first but honestly because it's so customisable you will eventually find the sweet spot. It is incredibly nice to use once you do. I'm a fan as you may be able to tell.

I replaced a Diamonback I had had for 3 years and which still works (fancied a change) with a Deathadder Respawn and its been great.

I would mention that I found the logo got hot for some reason (which it should not as its just an LED but it made it too warm with a hand on it for me) so I turned it off using the drivers (which were a bit of a pain to get working to turn it off). I've not had any issues with it in use.

I tried a 518 but I can't get on with the shape of that and the G400 (this is not the case for most people, the Logitechs are a really popular mouse) I found my little finger ached (absurd but true) whereas with this mouse I can rest it comfortably.

OP i had the mx1000 and it served for 5+ years, went for the g700 and at first i hated it over the 1000, but once i got the dpi ands other settings tuned to how i like its very close , but the battery is peice of poo.

With the whole deathadder thing, I have had to reapair the mouse scroll wheel because they only use a very thin piece of plastic to hold the mouse wheel on to the sides of the mouse, So I had to replace it with metal and a couple of days ago the mouse wheel has broken again.. So yeah..
