Mouse scrolling causing sound from pc??

A mate of mine is having a weird issue with his pc when hes scrolling with his mouse. Its like a quiet high pitched sound which seems to be emanating from somewhere near the I/O shield or cpu area inside the case, any ideas what this could be and why?

His spec is:

Q9550 (stock fan)
Asus P5N-D
8GB Corsair XMS2
9800GT (unsure of branding)
Hyper 580w PSU
Antec 900
Windows 7 x64 Pro

Mouse: Razer Lachesis

does the board use power saving features, mine does and if there on in the bios i also hear the same thing as you describe, i disable all power saving features and its fine

Ah right do you mean like speed step, etc? I had a P5Q3 with a similar setup and it was absolutely fine though, but thanks for the reply i'll have to see if he'll try it
