Mouse stops working through USB switch on only one PC

So I work remotely and got bored of switching peripherals every day and bought a USB3 switch to use my own peripherals on both my PC and my work PC. Running it through my own PC is flawless, never a hiccup. However when I'm on my work PC my mouse will randomly just stop moving the cursor about 2, maybe 3 times a work-day (9-5:30).

RGB is still on all devices, even the mouse, it just won't move the cursor until I unplug either the mouse or the output USB for my work PC.

I use it with SteelSeries Arctis 5, Apex 7 and Sensei Ten which all have RGB etc so I wondered if maybe it was a power issue, but even with the switch powered via it's USB-C power port it occasionally does it. And _only ever_ on my work PC. It's just one of those "same thing different brand" ones, Anopu USB3 KVM Switch.

Any ideas? It's a mild frustration at the moment but I can imagine it becoming more annoying over time...

It just happened now after about 2hrs use, I've switched Pierson the work PC to see if it helps. I wonder if it's because my own PC has it plugged into a SS port which is providing more stable power delivery to devices?

Do you have any 'power savings' settings in the OS or on input hardware in device manager.

I had intermittent drop outs from my mouse due to 'power saving' being enable on the mouse in device manager. Not saying it will fix the issue but it might be worth a check.

Does it happen randomly like even mid swipe of the mouse it will just stop, or does it always do it when the mouse has been still prior to it occurring? I would look at power states, and go into device manager and turn off all the usb power save stuff for the usb ports and mouse itself so it can't be allowed to go to into some kind of power save. Also check bios of the work laptop if it is not locked down, and turn off any usb sleep and save power saving stuff.

So I installed USBLogView this morning as it happened 4 times in 10 minutes... No plug events so it's not the USB devices being "unplugged".

I've powered the switch via it's USB-C input for now to see if it's a power delivery issue. I notice my mouse stays on but when it stops working, the RGB will flicker and "restart" its lighting cycle - though the cursor never works again until I manually unplug the mouse/switch.

I have a similar setup to you (using a USB KVM box to share keyboard and mouse between work PC and main PC) and I've had issues like this once or twice in the past, usually solved but unplugging the box from which ever computer had the issue and then plugging it back in. When this hasn't resolved it, unplugging the box from both PCs (mine doesn't have extra power) and plugging it back in then resolves it. My keyboard has two USBs on it though, one I believe for RBG lighting. I don't get this issue all too much, but as already menntioned in this thread, it appears to be luck of the draw with these third party resellers. Mine appears to be badged as Rybezen. Interested to know how you resolve your issues, good luck!

If this doesn't work could you go for a software only option like MS mouse without borders (universal hardware) or logitech flow but they do require more than one pc to be on at the same time.

You could also change your hardware (not ideal) to say logitech, most of their 'better quality' mice/keyboards have the ability to swap devices, you just need a dongle for each pc etc.
