Hi,

I want a new mouse for gaming. What one should I get?

Does one just stand out from the rest? Will I need a mousemat too?

Cheers,

Gray

In addition to Phnom_Penh's question, what is your budget here? Do you prefer wireless or wired?

Personally I've got the Logitech G7 and although I'm not a heavy gamer at the moment it is excellent, on-the-fly sensitivity adjustment, swappable battery packs and it is a nice weight in the hand.

i think it looks great lol. only problem with mine is the way it attracts dirt on the buttons like no over mouse ive ever used, and the fact that its really too light for my ham fists. over than that, great mouse lol

I'm a lefty, but I actually use a mouse in my right hand!

Not fussed about wired/wireless. I'm only going to use the mouse for LAN parties, so a wired one might be more portable, i.e. no little receiver thingy to lug about.

I have a Logitech MX1000 (I think that's what it's called!) which I'm fairly happy with, as I say, I just want one to stick in a bag.

No point spending loads on it if it's just gonna sit in a bag. The MX518 is a great mouse and doesn't cost a small fortune.

G3 looks tempting, I hate ergo style mice and the G3 looks just like a gaming version of my old logitech wheel mouse :)

razer copperhead
Seconded. Brilliant mouse. I personally prefer Razer's shape to Logitech's, the performance is pretty much the same so the choice is down to your personal preference really.

Lolcb that's personal opinion ;) in my time as a professional gamer and being sponsored by logitech and razer i've used a razer diamondback / mx518 / razer copperhead / razer pro solution and a microsoft bog standard intellimouse 1.1 and out of the lot i have to say i would stick with the intellimouse, i'm going to be getting a intellimouse explorer 3 soon as this is immense! my advice if you can find a intelli explorer 3 then get that!

But u have to tell the community here why u prefer intellimouse tho. and what gives it the edge over other mouses avaible in the market now

I've got two sitting right next to me now, one that I've had for about six years and one I bought a few weeks ago for £5 in case the first breaks. The reason they are great is the feel, they fit my hand so well and the buttons are beautifully weighted and in great positions.

However as I said before I'm using a G7 for the moment, it is still relatively new to me and I like the fact it is wireless although I may go back to a v3 at some point. The new version should be released relatively soon as well. :)

If you want to pay 50 quid, get the G7. Absolutely no lag, the shape is perfect and it feels so smooth. If you're not up for paying that price though, I havent heard one bad review of the MX518 out of 100s
