right Ive got about near enough a 500+ folders all filled with my pictures on a 120gb hdd now these files and folders are a mix of all my backups of images combined (because I forgot which one was hwere and I noticed i missed a few on my last backup) so i thought Id create a new directory so I know everything is their. but to import it to lightroom and filter out all the duplicates you have to go through folder to folder and 500+ would take ages so any software suggestions ?
move all to one location program ?

Sorry I don't have an answer to this one but I am interested in this too.
I store all my photos on my laptop HDD but also keep a copy on an external drive, I would like an app that synchronises everything if possible.
You could compare filenames? Assuming you don't rename them or the camera doesn't restart the numbering

If you're talking about comparing pictures, ThumbsPlus has an excellent "Find Similar" feature that you can tweak to find identical or near matched. Get the demo version at www.cerious.com
lightroom does this already in comparing its just the importing mass amounts of folders as it only does it for files or sd cards
and smit Sync Toy (Ive been using the 1.4 version apparently that's been discontinued and heres the new one) will do that for you I just have 3 backups and forgot where I was and which one was grandad dad and child lol plus some file were there and others wernt ... so Im just combining everything to start again
