I've recently built a new system and would like to move the user folder onto another large mechanical drive but not sure what the best method is.

Anybody got any methods they would recommend?

Also are there any pitfalls to this such as the temp folder being on a mechanical drive?

Will Windows 7 use this location by default when saving files?

Thanks in advance.

the main pitfall is if that drive that you stick your user folder onto is not attached or moves (change sata port etc) , then your PC will not boot at all.

Best way IMO is to create folders on the mechanical drive Called My Music, My Pictures etc and then just right click on each of the sub folders in the user folder (My Music, My Pictures etc) and change their location to the new folders.
