I have a load of old motorbike parts which are fairly worthless, and in true topknot fancy beard hipster fashion, I’m going to try to “upcycle” them to decorate my garage.

I want to turn this XTZ750 rear wheel into a clock, with the brake disc side as the face and the sprocket carrier side holding the movement.

I can’t find a movement which has a long enough shaft that will go through the 170mm centre of the wheel. Any ideas?

This is the face side (minus the brake disc):

This is the rear where I would like to put the movement:

This is how thick it is, ~170mm:

I’ve thought about putting a movement on the face side but I thought that would look a bit gash.

At work many years ago, we stole the desk clock of a colleague. He Freudian slipped and asked for his **** black. So, we painted his clock black and then gave his clock back. True story.

Buy a movement and get a friend with a lathe to knock you up an extension?

Can't imagine you with a topknot ;)

a clock that size can be quite a big load, best to get a friend or two to help you with the shaft and probs best to clean the face after
