Movement with a long enough shaft for a big clock

If you knock the bearing out, what's the size of the tube?
Off the top of my head, it is 47mm. If you’re thinking of housing the movement inside, I’m not sure the girth will be enough to satisfy.

Can't imagine you with a topknot ;)
Wishful thinking. It’s a bit thin up there now!

I’ve ordered a quartz movement from Amazon (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01L1KLY4S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_YvvsAb0FYYBPV) and when it arrives I might see if I can fashion some sort of bezel to sit over the top of it on the face, rather than trying to extend the shaft. I’m not sure about having those hands on my clock - I may look into something with more contrast.

I also want to turn two brake discs into clocks but have yet to figure out how to house a movement.

Buy a movement and get a friend with a lathe to knock you up an extension?

This is probably your best bet. It would be fairly easy for someone with a lathe to sort out. You could move the thread to home and garden if you get no luck in here.

I like this idea though, it'll look awesome when its done.

Bit of a bump but I wonder how you got on, @Scuzi? I just saw this radio controlled movement on Amazon which reminded me of this thread.

I still haven’t found a movement that will fit. Still on the lookout.

In the meantime I raided my old bike parts bin and cobbled this together. Quite chuffed with it!
