Weren't the trailers for Paranomal Activity seances that were never used in the movie?

The original film has only been seen by a handful of people. Touchstone got hold of it, bought the rights and remade it. The original got stuck in a vault, never to be reshown. Some of those scenes could have been used in the remake.
