OK, I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I could do with some help here.

I bought a shiny ssd a few weeks ago - Corsair M4 64GB- and I am extremly impressed with booting and running applications. It is a must-have addition to a computer.

However, I am starting to run out of space. I have Windows, Office, Chrome, Thunderbird and all the usual additional helper programs and I am down to 12GB on the disk. I investigated and found that I could increase this to around 27GB if I moved my mail folder off drive C: I am using imap with Gmail so there are rather a lot of emails and attachments.

Can anyone help in persuading Windows it would prefer the users folder to be on another drive?

You can move your thunderbird profile mate!!

If you go onto thunderbird help forum it will tell you how to do it!!

I have my profiles on my D: drive.

You can set the specified folder under account settings/click on specific acc and you will see a browse bar to specify where you want to store your incoming email!!

Im sure if you want to move your users folder over after a full install you need to create symbolic links!

As far as my memory goes, robocopy cmd had something to do with it!!

Had a quick search and this link seemed to be a good resource for you!!

I know the easiest way to do it is during a fresh install on win7!!

Hope it helps you!

On Windows 7 you can move any of the libraries folders (My Documents, Public Documents, My Music, etc) by specifying the location in the properties.

For Thunderbird you can specify the location of the storage under Server settings for each account in the properties for Local Folders.
