I have 2x 2TB disks in my computer using the inbuilt 'storage spaces' feature in Windows 10 which is essentially software RAID (using RAID 0 equivalent)

I want to transfer these disks to a NAS (Synology DS220) - what will happen to my storage pool on those disks? Would I need to wipe them and go through a new RAID setup on the NAS?

I use storage spaces
But never tried moving them to hardware raid
I would say yes though
You may be able to make a macrium image set up hardware raid then load it
But not tried that either
Though you can browse macrium images for stuff to move afterwards
Assuming you have some where big enough to store the image to do it

Thought as much. Yes I have somewhere to temp offload the data so no biggy, was just hoping to avoid wiping the drives

I expect imagine you would need to wipe the disks and let the NAS format them in their own preferred format.

You'll probably be quicker just going through the process of letting them re-format and transferring the data back in compared to faffing over trying to get a storage spaces setup to be read by the NAS.
You're probably right, just need to transfer the data back after which could take a while
Yes, the NAS will insist on using its own format but there's no need to for you to wipe them as the NAS will take care of that.

Ok just try sticking them in as they are, see what happens. I've now copied the data to another drive as temp storage so we'll see.
