Moving everything to new HDD

The only solution I had was to backup to same disk, then move the image. However moving backups is not recommended apparently.

How do you write an image of a disk to the same disk? Sounds like a 'paradox' to me.

I have moved a couple of images from a fixed SATA to a SATA in a dock, when the second attempt resulted in a corrupted image I stopped moving them.

Sorry I meant imagine a partition and write it to another partition on same disk.

think the F1 640GB is prefereable as it uses 2x 320GB platters so is faster, could be wrong tho, can anyone confirm?

It has considerably less cache though?
