Ok, I have NEVER done this before and I want to Partition my 250GB SATA Drive and have say -

20GB for Windows
150GB for Games
30GB for encoding films
10GB for Music
The Left over for other stuff

So In total 5 Partitions.

I currently have Windows installed and my games and now want to partition off so,

First Is this possible to do seen as I alrady have stuff on the drive or will I need to re format the whole drive and start from scratch?

Second If I move my Games that are already installed over to my Game Partition, will they still run fine or will they not run seen as they have been moved from their original directory?

Third, What benifits do you get from partitioning off sections of the drive?

Also, I have just got Partition Magic

Thanks

Partition Magic may be able to partition and keep your data safe, but to be honest I wouldnt trust it to do it in a million years.

You may as well format because you SHOULD backup anyway, you're gonna have to reinstall Windows and reinstall all ya games. Just backup and reformat. So much simpler :)

ok, will do this the next time my computer goes dodgy then :) Cant be arsed re installing all the drivers etc as I just spent a day or 2 doing that last week :p

I might try Partition Magic to give me the rest of my harddrive back as I just installed SP2 to remove that annoying 127gb Harddrive limit :)

Damn that was fast!!!.. Just used Partition Magic to increase the Size of my C Drive to the full 250GB (as XP now recognises my drive is over 127gb in size) and it only took 2 seconds to unlock the other 110GB!!! :D

May i ask why it is that you don't trust PM for partitioning? What do you prefer, the windows installer, or some other program?

I've used PM many times, no problems encountered at all.
