Moving house...

I'm moving house in the next few months....

Now I want to take my number (BT) to the new house and move my broadband (Virigin).

How do I do this? Who do I contact first etc....

Would ring either company to speak but not sure who needs to know first etc...
 
That's right.

You'll need to contact BT (or whoever the network provider is) first and get the line set up in your new house and allocated to your BT account, etc. Once this is in place you can get the line activated for ADSL, etc. Therefore you could be without internet, etc for 10 days or so.

Having said that, I moved a month or so back and arranged with the people we were buying off to terminate their BT line early, so I could arrange their line to be allocated to me and renumbered. I then got BT to move my btopenworld account for the day I moved. I was without internet for about 4 hours!
 
yep i set up peoples adsl for them all the time and when someone moves out it takes 10 days.

so if u get the phone line on the 1st it will be ready to use on the 10th. u need to get the phone line first or they wont bother setting up broadband untill u do. so its 10days down time :(
 
Bit of a thread revival. Just found out where we're moving to is on the same exchange - so we're keeping our number... Can I assume that means BB will still work at the new house? or... what?
