Moving in IT/Programming

I can't personally think of any other applications of 1 second predictions... Maybe a betting shop, but that's still automated trading really

Process/system control/management (industry, avionics/automotive, military, medical, etc)

I'm working on a hardware platform atm where memory is scarce and processing cycles are abundant but hit the battery. It's a very different way of thinking about programming.

Okay, but that wouldn't be connected to AWS to make predictions.

Why? You can have a cross platform cross device program and you can spend more time solving the actual problem rather than worrying about whether you've created an object that you forgot to free.

Wait until you decide to do something smooth with your javascript, and the garbage collector decides to kick in.

Seriously, there is a market for the like of you I'm sure, and theres a market for the other guys who run the systems you describe as 'the cloud'.

Personally, I do live (TV) RF video/audio transmission. The UI of the thingies are made in javascript/lua, and pretty much everything else is hand tailored C on pretty small amount of resources.

I personally think it's great that theres a whole generation (or two) of clueless programmers around. Job security is assured for the foreseeable future :-)

And the like's of @Lightnix have a bright career in front of them fixing the stuff these guys do, too :-)

I'm not a programmer. I just think that there is a great deal of snobbishness in programmers. As far as job security goes, most COBOL programmers have awesome job security... doesn't make them more clued up.
