Finally it could be a reality. I gave my notice in at work yesterday and can now start looking for places in London.

Apart from Gumtree, what else is available to search for places to stay? Looking for a double room, preferably in the south.

If I were you I'd forget every site like Find A Property, Gum Tree etc etc, they're all a waste of time. A lot of the properties on those sites have been let and some agents don't update them for weeks.

The best thing to do is to go here:

http://www.homesandproperty.co.uk/coun0011.html

and click on the part of London you want to live in, then click 'agencies' . It will come up with a list of agent in and around your area. Set aside 30 mins and call as many as possible and arrange viewings. It's the best way.

I found my latest place to rent in Loot of all places...but then i was desperate for something quick, turned out quite nice in the end :)

Good tip mate!

I copied and pasted to my Misses who is looking for a 3 bed let! Cheers :D

If your a facebook member then join the london network, then goto - marketplace and the rooms to rent section, plenty of genuine people there looking for housemates plus, should be lots of pics of the room and it's an ideal way to get an idea of what the housemates may be like (and look like), plus it makes it easy peasy to contact them.
