I don't know a massive amount about how games are installed... not really a big PC gamer but I'd say yes. They'll most likely need to create registry entries etc.

I'd just install them fresh and then manually copy over any files which have settings etc in.

Some will load, some won't and will need to be re-installed.

For the ones that will, create a desktop shortcut from the executable file. Then right click on the start menu and click explore.

Now you can drag the shortcut into your start menu.

mmmm ok thanks. I shall take a look at it. Ive yet to move most my stuff over.

Also i have another rather big problem. I cannot boot from my new drive properly. I have 2 drivesr with vista on, my old one and my new one. If i change the boot order to put my new hard drive first when bootnig it claims its missing some boot file, if i put the old hard drive first. It boots up and gives me a choice where i choose which vista to load. So i can boot off my new hard drive but not if i have it as the first hard drive in the boot list.

This make sence?

Now this isn't a huge problem on its own but i want to format my old hard drive. I cant do this because then i wont be able to boot at all i suspect!

Why don't you just use something like ghost to copy your old drive image onto the new drive? Then you can format your old hard drive within windows.

ghost copy? mmm how do i go about doing this. Thing is ya see i cannot afford to loose a lot of the data on the old drive and if i move it over to the new one and cannot boot anymore i will have to reformat both drives, loosing al *** data. I do have a third hard drive which contains some of it but is not big enough to take it all.

Get a copy of ghost, preferably the latest version.. think we're on 11 now. Clone old hard drive onto new hard drive using ghost then format old drive within windows........job done. No data lost no problems whatsoever everything exactly as it was before your new hard drive installation.

Mmm sounds good. And what if my pc then refuses to boot? The old hard drive contains some boot.bat or somethnig i forget the extension on it. That is why i cannot put my new hard drive as the first boot drive for some bizar reason.

My consern is that formating the old drive will remove this mystory file. preventing me from eing able to boot at all and then i will need to format again and hope on a second install it will install this mystory file. Which will mean i loose all the data i backed up on the new hard drive.

If you see my dilema now? And my old ahrd drive has bout 100gb of space left and i have over 300gb i need to keep backed up.

Ghost will copy (clone) all your data from your old hard drive like for like onto the new hard drive, Providing the new drive has enough space of course

So basically your new drive will have EXACTLY the same data on it as the old drive, therefore everything will be EXACTLY the same as it was before, it will boot the same it will have all your game saves etc etc, it's an EXACT copy........ it really is that easy.

I've been a service engineer for a national company for 10+ years and ghost has been a godsend on many occasions, especially with the old Fujitsu 12Gb and 20Gb IDE drives which so many people had issues with. A43 file management is another good utility which I use on a regular basis and that comes with the latest version of Bart PE. It enables you to grab data off a drive that no longer boots.
