I've just bought myself a newer Macbook (C2D -> i7) and wondered about the best way of getting everything across. I've got quite a lot of setup I did on my current machine, in terms of Bash Profiles etc.

Options I see are:

1) Migration Assistant.
2) SuperDuper
3) Manual.

Anybody offer some opinion on the best way of doing it?

Cheers!

CCC used to cause problems with certain Adobe apps. I had to reinstall Photoshop after using that once before. Not so with SuperDuper!

However, I believe that you can't just clone an OS when changing CPU architecture. Migration Assistant would be your best bet. Get the new system running, link the two together and run Migration Assistant. Come back in a few hours and the job will be done.

Migration Assistant is brilliant - you can restore whatever you want from a Time Capsule backup and Robert is your uncle.

Think I'll go Migration Assistant then. Bought a 256Gb SSD for it as well and 8Gb Ram. Think this Macbook is going to fly!
