Moving to Hull...

Hessle is really nice. I used to commute their from Leeds,and it was very nice. Hull is a hole. Also you could look at going to Beverly for your shopping fix, really nice little town.
 
Whatever you have heard about Hull, or continue to read about Hull, it really is just the same as any other UK city. I honestly don't understand why Hull gets singled out time and again.

Spiders nightclub is decent although its been years since I've been. I used to live in Keyingham, not far from Hedon, as per a previous poster. I'd recommend Hedon though, a nice little market town.

If you do live in Hull, you are literally 10 minutes drive into the countryside, and theres a lot of it about. Unlike Manchester (and the north west), if you drive 10 minutes out of Manchester you usually just hit another town or city.
