Moving up in the world !

Total war yes, not played Arma3 but Im sure it can unless the game is poorly coded.

Also it will play so many other games such as Battlefield4, GTAV etc.

BF4 and GTA on max settings?

what kind of FPS am i looking at with this ? or is this too technical to know at this stage?

could you send me a link to a decent LED monitor ? not too expensive :) . my laptop doesnt agree with browsing through the overclockers shop site lol

not to sure whats a good price etc lol, you seem like the expert :P if you was to get a system like the 2nd one you made for me...what monitor would you get and what keyboard and mouse would you get with that? ... and what ill do ...is basically copy :P if thats ok :D haha

Both Arma and TW are highly CPU bound,if these are games the OP will be playing a lot i highly recommend the 4790k over the 4690k,the higher clock speed alone makes a noticeable difference.

970/980 it doesnt matter,i highly doubt the OP will notice the difference,he should save some cash, get the 970 and put the savings towards a nice monitor/peripherals.

Would still be a beast machine :D

What's the difference in price between them CPUS?
Cheers guys for the replies :) I like this forum. I was on the PC specialist forum and they just told me to stay away from building and leave it to people that do it daily and everytime I asked a question, they just took the **** really. Haha

Depending on if you get a mobo bundle or buy them separately, its around £70-80 difference.

Dont get me wrong,an I5 is plenty for gaming, and in most situations is equal to an I7,just the higher clock speeds on the I7 over the I5 out of the box makes it better for CPU bound games. You can make up most of the difference by overclocking the I5 to similar speeds, but if your new to PC,you probily dont want to faff about learning that stuff straight away.

The I7 and a 970 would be a better choice than the I5 and a 980 IMO.

There is no difference between the i7 and i5 for gaming currently EXCEPT if you also run other things in parallel that require processing power. So streaming, recording, video editing, etc. But if you aren't looking to do 10 things at once while you're playing games then I would go for the i5 because there's literally no difference in performance.

What I'd do is read up on overclocking as that will help you quite a bit in the games you play. But don't worry about it too much, you don't have to do it right now, you can do it a year later or whenever but keep it in mind,

The first build stulid posted for 872 is pretty good though I'd go for a different case (Phanteks Enthoo Pro). As for monitors, I've recently got my hands on an Iiyama XB2783HSU and I can say it's absolutely gorgeous for 1080p gaming, have a look at it. I like basic mice/keyboards, so I go for whatever keyboard I can find and for mouse a Logitech M100 is excellent, fits just right into my hand and works well. I've been using the same type for basically 10 years now.
