I used to hack in a particular online game (not CS). I did it really just for the fun, and the fact that everyone else on a server i played on was using them made it all the more fairer. I think that if others are hacking, then it's a quest to see who can hack the best. The reason some people do it isn't because they are bad players (there really is no such thing), it's because they look bad compared to the others.

In CS:S, it's strange, but a lot of players do fenuinly aim for the head. I mean, i always aim my gun at that sort of height, it's become natural for me.

Another reason, which is also genuine, is that some people use them to "train". If a player can get used to aiming at a particular place through the use of an aimbot, then they will eventually start to follow that sort of pattern. They'll learn where the "weak spots" of a player are and naturally adjust.

When i stopped hacking, i noticed that it become more natural and i became an average player in terms of K Ratio.

A friend of mine used to use css hacks for a laugh and we used to go into random servers etc and see peoples reactions. As said if your doing it for a laugh it gets old fast, especially if you are good anyway, but if you were not a very good player i could see how it could get addictive.
In many games i play especially halo being called a hacker is just part of playing online publics. If you are good you are a hacker to the average person unfortuntely.

this is one of the reasons I STOPPED playing FPS games online, its hard to find a decent community and 9/10 ten someone in that community exhibits signs of cheating, and put plainly its hard to tell wether they are or they are extraordinarily good with a dash of luck.

you should look at some of the videos of Battlefield 2 hacks there are around that recolour occluded models in red or blue depending on wether they are hostile or not, Kinda clever but not big in the slightest.

I've played CS for around 5 years now 1.4/1.5/1.6 and you see cheaters all the time. First when i started it was 'kids' messing around in the school holidays on public servers doing it blatantly and not really minding if they get caught because back then there wasn't many Anti-Cheats to stop you. However, progressing through the years and getting better at the game i saw less hacking because i no longer play in public servers just play pcw's/mixes etc. so you don't get as many. However, what really winds me up is when people hack in these kind of games. I mean, before it was for fun and people having a laugh, which i can kind of understand. To do this in a proper game is just cowardly, the fact you have to hide it and want people to think you're legit when you're not. Playing league games is alright though because of the advancement in Anti-Cheat software. i.e. TheSGL.com has a great AC where it takes screenshots of your in game play, your config and scans the usual for cheats. Therefore wallhacking etc. is virtually impossible.

On Coh, there is this thing called drop hacking, if the other player disables their lan connection, the game ends and you are defeated, while the other player gets a win. Relics fantastic online system.

The people that throw accusations around are usually children anyway in my experience, mommy and daddy always let them win at home

I played Halo MP for about 3 days before i got fed up with the crappy tactics people used, like crashing a perfectly good aircraft into the ground in order to kill me

Hackers or even those who used 'enhanced' scripts are low down scum and they ruin the game for others as admins become very protective and start to ban those who are suspected of cheating, im talking from xperience as ive been responsible for banning those who have been suspected of cheating, sometimes i get it wrong but its better to seen as hard when you admin to disuade any cheaters from comming into your server.

i get fed up of hackers glitchers and what ever else there doing nowadays. i run a few servers on BF2 and it just ruins the game for everyone involved i have to spend time checking people who look dodgy and getting PB shots to make sure as you cant just accuse people of something then theres all the hassle of reporting people. but it has to be done otherwise the game would be no fun for people who wanna play properly.

I was involved with a now-defunct UK game server provider and the admin staff there used cheats and hacks, usually of the OGC multi-hack variety, on the public servers on a daily basis.

It was extremely commonplace.

And yet the same admins were banning people left right and centre for using the very same hacks. The reason we could spot the hackers so easily is because we had the input of the admins who were hacking themselves - so knew exactly what to look out for.

Been killed by quite a few BF2142 cheaters recently, and i dont say they cheat because i suck, i really don't, but i'm not the best thing since slice bread either. However i do know the game well enough to know a support guy cannot accurately kill a person with full health with 2 bullets while strafing.....

The support gun has heavy recoil and takes time (no movement) to gain any accuracy at all.

So i've chosen to fight the cheaters, i'm running Fraps in every server i join, and making it my mission to record people that look like they're cheating. I'm picky though, it takes a lot to convince me of a cheater, i honestly don't mind losing to properly good players, i've seen them and i really don't mind, but cheaters ruin the game for everyone else.

So i'll warn you here and now if you cheat @ bf2142, cheat in a server i'm in and i'll be recording you and sending your details to EA. Key gets banned, you either buy a new copy or play in dodgy servers then.

On another note, out of the videos i've watched of people cheating, i can honestly say these players DO generally suck, they look like they need AIMBOTS. Its rubbish about using hacks to learn........... I've never cheated and i've got to a good level just fine, if you wanna tell yourself it helps you then you're just a fool. Playing a game where you have an advantage will teach you far less then playing in a game where you struggle to get kills, the harder you work to kill/win the better you will be, its simple really.

For the record a lot of the Battlefield videos (2142 i'm talking here) on the net are old Beta videos or on older versions, so you could well find a lot of the **** you see on them won't work now.

ive seen wall glitching thing on titan (fixed?)
and the usual weapon exploit stuff but actual cheating?

a lot depends on your connection when playing and the server as well. At times i wont need to put more than a few bullets in someone and they go down and yet for some players at other times they will be standing or prone absolutely still and it will take a whole clip lol. (voss) Also you know when you are shooting it shows on your x-hair if you are hitting im not liking that when my x-hair is exactly on their head i dont get hit registration sometimes so i lower my aim so that i do but that doesnt kill some of them quick enough.

Generally in my experience a cheater will use the support gun, if you play enough you'll spot one no problem.

They'll strafe, run, walk, whilst shooting..... fire literally a few rounds and you'll be dead. This just isnt possible with the support gun as i'm sure you'll know, i don't mind luck, but over and over and its just a dead give away.

I agree, in quake3 before punkbuster someone who was one of the best duelists on quake3 (on LAN) was banned from a gaming network because he was 'suspected' of cheating.
I know a lot of people who have also been banned because of being 'suspected' of cheating, myself included.

On a certain network there is one clan who are mostly all admins and if you beat them in a league they suddenly ban your best player or even the whole clan because they think you must be cheating if you can beat them I know someone IRL who was in this clan and all he talked about was OGC seems a bit like they were cheating tbh.
One thing with cheaters is they can't take losing, if you beat them and they are cheating they think you must also be cheating and so have a fit or if they are an admin they try to ban you

I've been playing on-line FPS for about 10 years now. The worst encounter with a hack I've experienced was when our Q3A clan discovered one of our team had been cheating with a wall hack. We found out when our webmaster asked for a screenshot of a score table to upload and the cheater sent him one - forgetting it showed all the evidence, like player names behind walls etc The worst of it was that we were on the verge of promotion to BWDML Div2 (after fighting our way up from the depths of Div5) and we had no choice but to tell the league admin and offer to forfeit all the games this guy had played in....which was most of them. We ended up back down in Div3. Worst still, this guy had been with the clan a long time and we have no idea how long he had been cheating - made all the years of hard work seem totally pointless. The clan split soon after - one of the oldest Quake clans around as well

depends on the servers m8
used to get it on a few open servers, but on the others that I played there was a "no accusations" rule, if you thought someone was hacking you had to say nothing and submit a demo, shouting "OMG HACKER" got you banned
