MP3 Player and Headphone Suggestions

Completely forget any kind of Etymotic IEM or E3C's for a basshead. They're the most bass anemic IEM's on the planet!!

If you can go to £70 then you owe it to yourself to get the super.fi EB.....some here in the uk if your quick: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Super-fi-5-EB...yZ112529QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Thank you for the warning, I'll have to think again then about getting those earphones. If I can't get hold of the Super.fi EBs, what do you suggest (preferably cheaper)?

 apart from having better bass, the XB's aren't better.

not a bad price, although tbh, they have a ridiculous amount of bass, M5's are probably a better choice.

I agree and I already suggested atrio's but if £70 is a push i'm guessing ~£100 is out of the question.

Unless the ATs are worth keeping, I think I'd rather just get one descent pair of headphones if the XBs are worth the extra cost over the X3s.

Do you get any accessories or anything when you buy the XBs? I know if I get the Super.Fi EBs I'll get a few different tips with it, right.

The Classics have phase issues, although if you're going to have a lot of bass you won't notice :p. Otherwise I'd get the Sony (but it depends on how much storage you want) Might be worth having a look at the Meizu M6, but it doesn't do aac.

if it's that same as the X3's you get a case, some tips (S/M/L) and a cable organiser. Some people say the UE biflange tips are better, and you can get a fit kit from UE for £7.

Thank you for telling me. Although, what are these issues exactly?

Are you referring to the Sony NWA808? I guess it's either going to be this, the Creative Zen or one of the iPods.

Ah, thank you. Since I only have about £180 to spare at the moment, I better wait until I an iPod or Zen before I get some earphones, if not I might not have enough to buy a media player to use them with!

So am I right in thinking MylarOne XBs and Super.Fi EBs are my best options? I don't know whether I should still be considering the CX300s or some of the Shure earphones.

the different frequencies (essentially the different parts of the sound, like highs/mids/lows) are out of phase when they are played - I think it's because of the amplification of the treble to make them clearer. There's also the same amount of bass roll off as the 5.5G (as with high impedance phones, lower ones have less roll off than the 5.5, but its pretty negligible)

I've always found that the Sony player's have the best SQ, the fact they've now ditched SonicStage is even better. There's a newer type called the NW-S71x which comes with Sony EX91s and has inbuilt noise cancelling.

I'd go with the XB's, the X3's are stupid good for the price, I don't think you'll find anything better value.

Ok, so it seems I can get the Creative Zen 8GB for £130 on an auction site, the same price as a new iPod Nano. Do you guys think I'd be better off with the former? Or I could just get one of the larger iPods or the Sony A808. Argh.. I can't decide!

Right, so it's definitely either the Creative Zen or iPod Nano. I have one more question, though. Will I need to install any software if I get the Zen?

EDIT: One more thing. Since I've sorted out the album, track and artist names from within iTunes, is it likely to cause problems if the tracks are put on the Zen? I just don't know if all the names will appear correctly, that's all, because I have quite a few compilation albums which, in iTunes, I've changed the artist name from each individual track to the record producer for that particular album. For example, I might have a few albums with 20+ tracks on each, with each track having a different artist name. In iTunes, I've renamed the artist name for each track in an album to the record label for that album. I can assume, if I get an iPod, the tracks will appear the same as they do in iTunes and have the record label listed as the artist for compilation CDs instead of each individual artist which will make it far easier when finding a song. But can I assume the same for the Creative Zen?

my mate got a nano 4gb for £68. second hand but excellent condition. Personally i dont think they go loud enough.

My shuffle 1st gen goes higher

1st gen shuffles have the best sq of any ipod.

Yeh i tried the newer shuffle and it sounded crap. I only paid £23 delivered for my shuffle i have now (was in great condition). Sold the old one for £19 with a fried battery, i used it all the time. Dunno why the guy bought it but he was happy and so was i!

Pitty the ipod headphones are starting to breakup on high bass songs, my sony ones are knackered aswell :(

Wow, that's a good price Sinny. I thought they were still going to sell for £140, but £110 is almost too good to pass up. Man, way to make the decision even difficult as I was leaning towards an iPod beforehand.

To reiterate my questions above, will I need to install any software if I get the Zen and will all of the song, artist and album name appear correctly (as I've said about in my previous post)?

As for the Shuffle, it doesn't really interest me, although I constantly hear that the 1st gen ones are the best.

You guys still think the MylarOne XBs are the way to go, whether I get an iPod or Zen?

As far as i know, the Zen has a drop and Drag funcionality, and you can use Creative Mediasource which can zip all your music onto the player very fast and easily.

Creative i think have the best sound quality for mp3 players, i have had my Creative Zen touch since release and its been dropped down stairs, stood on and still works 100%.

Imo its the best on the market mp3 atm (well after the 29th) and it it appealed to me more than the ipod because its cheaper, better sound quality, has an sd card slot, its about the same size (bit more chunky).

I would get it ^_^ if that is what you are looking for, oh yeah its also a flash based player.

Being able to drag and drop music does make it quite convenient, but Mediasource isn't required is it? I'm just concerned about how song, artist and album names will appear since I've sorted them all out from within iTunes.

It will sort the music according to track number, but you can choose what you want to view alpha betically, artist title, album title, song title etc, then it will have sub folders ie, Artist>Album>Track Name etc.

However if you are worried, then get your ipod, but i do recommend the Creative player more highly.
